Going Home is the choir’s sixth album and TMC’s first studio recording since the Juno Award winning Instrument of Praise. The fulfillment of a deep passion first sparked during TMC’s tour of Barbados and Trinidad, the CD includes not only the familiar styles of reggae, calypso and ska but also new sounds with the fusion of jazz and reggae.
The 12-cut CD includes original arrangements of familiar songs such as You Are My All In All featuring gospel singer Dean Bridgewater and Open My Eyes Lord. New songs such as Conqueror and Going Home featuring spoken word artist Dwayne Sewells, bring island and urban gospel vibes together. Backed by talented horn players, steel pan and a rhythm section that includes popular drummer Larnell Lewis, the album also features members Nicole Sinclair-Anderson, Elvis Boddie, Anne Barrett Kerroy Williams and alumni member Michal Richardson on lead vocals.
Released on the Micah Records Label, the CD will be available nationally through Christian bookstores, general music retailers, iTunes and other online distributors starting September 25.
The long awaited album has generated a pre-sale buzz with fans who have long been enticed by TMC’s inspirational music ministry that has been aptly flavoured with Caribbean-inspired gems. Producer, Oswald Burke who hails from Jamaica, along with co-producers Joy Brown and Carmon Barry have pooled their talent to make choir director Karen Burke’s vocal arrangements a cornucopia of the Caribbean.
